Bought this Reconditioned Chromebook for writing while commuting. I usually keep myself from buying items by reading the one star reviews, which were pretty scary. However, the Chromebook arrived in good shape, has only minor blemishes, good battery life, bright enough screen. Like the keyboard feel with a slight mechanical click that reminds me of the old typewriter days (dating myself). Only issue is that it’s slow loading my long document, about 65,000 words. I’ve been putting chapters in separate files and that works fine. Good for checking email, not for any heavy browsing but that keeps me less distracted. Definitely worth my $100 Amazon birthday card and, if it breaks within 3 months, I’ll send it back per Amazon policy.

I don’t like having to type in a password every time I turn the computer on. Other than that it’s not a bad computer.

Very little scratches or noticeable defects, works great. Battery life was pretty standard and this thing is really durable

I see a lot of people mentioning the appearance of the laptop and rating it on that, which I don’t think is a great way to review anything honestly. This machine does everything that it is supposed to do flawlessly. It obviously runs Chrome OS, which if you aren’t sure what that means doesn’t mean you should 1 star it.I”m currently about halfway through a MFA degree and this is a great machine to get my school work done. On top of that, I’ve taken this laptop hiking several times already and there isn’t so much as an unsightly dent. Moreover, the actual aesthetic design isn’t as childish looking as the thumbnail photo suggests. I am a working professional and I have zero qualms about being seen with this laptop. This is rapidly becoming my go to system, outside of my actual tower of course. And I mean, look at that price.’Nuff said

The unit is a nice solid computer. The chrome system has limitations as compared to windows. I have not found a way to save files or download programs to a USB drive directly. I can save a file then copy it to USB drive but not very convenient. I have not found a way to save a program to the USB drive, which leaves one limited to available storage on machine for them. Since most come with relatively limited memory, thus causesone to prioritize what you get to use.

Love the rubberized coating. I’m retired and don’t us it for school or work.

LOVE the fact that it has TWO USB 3.0 ports AND HDMI AND SD Card Slot. In some ways it’s better than my $700 laptop. I keep movies and music on an SD card and use the USB slots for everything else. I hooked up HDMI once and didn’t explore it for very long but it looks like it is like a laptop, you can set the external screen for primary or secondary or you can clone them. Using apps from Google Play market means that you can handle PowerPoint, Word, and more even though this is not a laptop.Battery does last a looong time as others have said.Screen: Lots of settings to optimize for your preference. It’s an 11.6″ diagonal screen with a maximum resolution of 1518×953 but if you want words to be bigger you can reduce the resolution all the way to 911×512. Many web designers assume your screen is at least 600 pixels high and if you choose 911×512 mode you’ll need to scroll (2 fingers) down to see the typical home page login screen. The other character size adjustment you have is in the browser. So set the device for what you want your apps to look like and then set the browser for what you want web pages to look like. On Chrome, that’s CTRL with + or – (or use the settings). If you’re used to a tablet or phone, there is no pinch to zoom in or out. That can be done as above, with settings on either the device or the web browser.Keyboard: I found it to be comfortable and responsive. Nice touch to it, and not noisy. It’s a little hard to see blue letters on black keys at night, but as there are TWO USB ports I may buy myself a little USB light to travel with.Puts out plenty of sound for personal use, or, of course, you can use headsets.Internet: Having both 2Ghz and 5Ghz means you can connect pretty much anywhere. I was having trouble with my older tablet and phone whenever I got hired by Google to do a day of work for them because they are moving away from the 2Ghz band, so this flexible baby solves that problem.ASUS: Have been using their products for years. They are reliable and responsive.Been one month. So far I love it. If that changes … I’ll update. 🙂

I have an old, large laptop that is still kickin’, and still gets the job done, for the most part. But it is big, heavy, and is showing its age in its general slowness, compared to newer machines. I did not want to spend a lot on a new laptop with a full OS at this time, so I started to poke around for Chromebooks. Most were still more than I wanted to spend, but then I came across this refurbed model, which was on sale for a good price and free returns. With nothing to lose if it didn’t work out, I decided to give it a go. I’m happy to say this Chromebook has done everything I need it to do so far. It arrived very clean, with some minor wear to the body of the Chromebook, all minor cosmetic chinks. The biggest cosmetic issue is there is a decent size scratch right across the middle of the screen. It doesn’t impair visibility, but is noticeably annoying. I considered sending the Chromebook back because of it, but decided to keep it at least for a few days to see if the nuts and the bolts of the machine made up for this visible flaw. And they really did! The battery on this thing is a workhorse! I purposefully used it for a day unplugged to drain the battery and test its lifespan, and it took the whole day of on and off use to get the thing to die. It recharged up like a champ without issue, and I’ve subsequently done the same thing, all with good results on the battery. The connectivity to WiFi is strong, and surfing the web and using any of the apps I’ve installed has been fast. I’ve used the Zoom app a couple times for some virtual classes, and the app worked well, the camera worked good, and the audio was clear. Overall I am pretty pleased with this little machine! It is small and light, and will be easy for me to carry around back and forth to our camp, which is the only place we go anymore because of the pandemic. But when we do re-enter society and go to places like coffee shops and the library again, this zippy machine will be easy to bring along to those places too. If you’re lucky enough to get a refurb in as good of shape as mine, and even luckier to get one without a screen scratch unlike mine, you’ll be happy with your purchase of this! 😀

For the price you can’t beat it!I do know the new industry standard is to not load word processing app on the chrome book. Now you have to continue to pay fees to us the soft wear. Personally I don’t like that. It’s not the fault of this great chrome book. I just choose to not be the cash cow for the soft ware industry.Don’t hesitate to pick this chrome book up!
